This art was originally sketched as a henna design to celebrate a mama-to-be. The design was created on her pregnant belly a couple of weeks before the baby arrived in in the winter of 2017.

The father of the baby is from Samoa, and so the mother requested to have some Samoan flowers and patterns incorporated into the design.

These Polynesian patterns are deeply connected to the ocean, fishing, and life on the island.
